Working with our people
My role as an Iwi Liaison Officer is always interesting. I am blessed with the opportunity to listen and learn from our kaumātua and kuia on the various marae in our rohe.
I think the most challenging and rewarding mahi for me has been working with our rangatahi and their whānau. Trying to assist them where I can and show them what opportunities exist outside of offending.
The great part of my mahi is that being Māori and working with Māori families you always feel like you have a connection through whakapapa.
I'm not a very interesting person but the people and families I have worked with over the past six to seven years have been that and more.
