Brilliant
I had been in the police for 6 years when I went on maternity leave to have my son. During the following few years I worked part-time and full-time, on an altered roster, so I could provide thorough care for my son until he started school.
During this time I managed to train and qualify as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Branch under NZ Police's Flexible Employment Opportunities scheme, something I am very proud of. NZ Police was brilliant, and really supportive. I knew what was expected of me, but it was great that I was able to remain a fully operational member of the police, as well as being the best mother I could be.
