Spider
This recruit(ess) had been out of Police College a matter of weeks when she was called out to a burglary job near Levin. She conscientiously did a search of the property and went outside and found some clothes lying in the bushes. She picked them up - then dropped them and stood stock still and stared; after a while she called for back-up.
There amongst the clothes was a spider - yep, a spider. She redeemed herself the next week, though, when she was standing in the court and out of the corner of her eye she saw a defendant sidling over to a door to escape; she did some smart sidling herself and tackled the bloke as he made his way out the door.
