Routine stop

I was working alone in Pt Chevalier, when I spotted a vehicle that had earlier been reported stolen. I ordered the vehicle to pull over and three drunken males disembarked.

While I was dealing with the driver (which was disqualified), I had to arrested one of the passengers who was being a nuisance.

Suddenly, the remaining passenger jumped into the driver’s seat of the stolen car and took off. I jumped into my patrol car and gave chase.

The pursuit continued for several minutes. I would have been 50m behind the stolen vehicle when I saw it lose control and skid through a T-junction before crashing into a wooden fence.

The offender jumped out and tried to run but was apprehended by members of the public who handed him over.
