NZ Police is committed to ensuring your privacy is protected, and we strive to uphold best practice privacy standards. We collect your details to keep you informed about recruitment, events, news, training and other information and opportunities from NZ Police.
Your details are stored in a secure database and are only made available to NZ Police recruitment staff. Your details are used solely for the purposes of keeping in touch with you, and distributing information regarding NZ Police recruitment. Your email address will not be made available to anyone outside of NZ Police.

Scope of this Privacy Policy
This privacy policy relates to the NZ Police recruitment website www.newcops.co.nz.
Your privacy is very important to us at NZ Police, and we want to ensure that you understand the terms and conditions relating to the way in which we collect and use your personal information. NZ Police operates the website www.newcops.co.nz. As part of our operations we may gather certain types of information about the users of this site:

Examples of these services could include email newsletters, events, competitions and sample assessments. Providing this information will always be optional for you, and you can browse our websites without providing any personally identifiable information. - Non-personal Information. This information is generated by our systems as they track traffic through our sites. This information does not and will not be used to identify you personally, and is not linked to the personally identifiable information that you may have provided. Examples of this type of information include:

- the type of operating system you use
- the screen resolution of your PC
- the date and time you access our site
- the pages you have accessed and the documents downloaded
- the internet address from which you accessed our site (i.e. IP address)
- the search terms you used to find content on our website, and
- the last site you visited before you accessed the New Cops website
Who we share this information with
When we temporarily provide personal information to companies that perform services for us, such as to send you emails or SMS messages, we require those companies to protect the information in the same manner as NZ Police. These service companies cannot use your personal information for any other purpose than the reason you provided it to NZ Police.
The non-personal information that is generated by our systems (not your personally identifiable information) may be shared with third parties such as our suppliers and business partners.
Your personal information may be shared with third parties when we believe in good faith that we are required to do so by law.
We will never sell your personal information to any third parties, including other marketers.
What else we do with your personal information

What about cookies?
A cookie is a small file that resides on your computer and is recognised by our server when you visit our sites. A cookie does not provide us with any personally identifiable information. It does provide details of your IP address, the computer platform that you use (e.g. Mac or Windows), the browser that you use (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) and what domain you are accessing our sites from. With this information we can do the following:
